![]() ![]() ![]() That said, Budget’s mileage rate for the quotes we got was $0.47/mile, much lower than both U-Haul’s ($0.99/mile) and Penske’s ($1.29/mile). These prices are just for truck reservations, though, and they don’t include mileage rates. For comparison, U-Haul’s average is $38.70 and Penske’s is $328.09 (yikes!). Unfortunately, you get what you pay for.Budget’s combination of low up-front costs combined with cheap mileage rates makes it your most affordable option if you’re moving under 100 miles and you need a mid-sized to large moving truck.īudget’s average price to rent a moving truck for a local move is $27.60. They don't have DOT or PUC numbers, and maybe not business licenses or insurance. These labor services are kind of in an unregulated gray area, because they don't have to own trucks. When I look at the website for my area, the companies listed on there have no online presence or physical address for me to find. Moving Help isn't staffed by professional movers. That's usually more important for their business. You could always write a bad review on the Moving Help website. It kind of sounds like the U-Box problem was U-Hauls fault, and not the movers. I work for a professional company, so I honestly have no idea how U-Haul works or how the helpers get paid. I'd guess they also don't use contracts(?), so there'd be no breached agreement between you and them. They were probably a labor-only service, and don't fall under the regular DOT regulations. ![]() You probably can't file a complaint against them because they might not have an actual LLC or website that they operate from. Has anyone else had this kind of experience? Im curious to know.Īlso, what’s the best way to file a complaint against the company that canceled on me without proper notice? I wish I would have known this or had done more research, but maybe this can help someone else. But you would be better off having UHaul deliver to your house and hire your own movers outside of their system if you need help loading it. It’s presented as this really attractive option - book everything through UHaul’s system and hire movers who are experienced with Ubox. additionally, Moving Help will not even answer their phone - they’ll only talk to you through a chat system on their website. The entire system is set up so that UHaul can say “oh it’s Moving Help’s fault” and they won’t be responsible. So, all this is to say that Moving Help through UHaul likely lists sub-par movers (at least in my experience). How is he supposed to move our couches, mattress alone? Not only that - the guy doesn’t even have his own moving truck or dolly! He’s renting them through UHaul :) The only thing is, the moving company we hired says only one guy is going to show up. Everything is confirmed through the system and we personally went to UHaul (even though we don’t have to) to ensure the Ubox is there. This same mover is also available the next day. So two days in a row we don’t get our Ubox. So the next day, the new moving company shows up at UHaul and UHaul says they don’t have a Ubox available, we were supposed to pick it up the day before. Everything was confirmed through the Uhaul system. We booked it through Moving Help - the same exact service for the next day with a different moving company. Then they went into the Moving Help system and rescheduled our Ubox delivery and load for two days later, without asking if we were available that day.Īs a result, we canceled this and decided to book another company for the next day. They did not give notice that they were going to cancel and left us completely deserted. On the day of, they canceled on me, saying they waited at UHaul to pick up the Ubox for too long, and they had other moves to do so they just left. I hired a moving company through Moving Help to deliver a Ubox to my apartment and help load it. Uhaul’s “Moving Help” services for loading and unloading a Ubox are a total scam. ![]()
